“There is no doubt that gates are an agricultural essential.”
We are well known for the supply of gates to smallholders, farmers and landscapers throughout North Staffordshire. We always hold a huge range in stock to suit every situation.
However, the world of gates can be a confusing place so we thought it might be an idea to shed a little light on the subject.
‘GALVANISED STEEL’…
Galvanised is a term used to describe a product that has gone through galvanisation. This is a process that involves the product (in this case steel gates), being immersed into molten Zinc; also known as hot-dip galvanisation. The molten Zinc completely coats the steel and offers long term protection against the elements and corrosion, such as rust.
WHAT DOES ‘SACRIFICIAL ANODE’ MEAN?
You may have heard people referring to Zinc being a ‘sacrificial anode’ but what does this mean? In simpler terms, all this means is that if the galvanised coating gets scratched or damaged the remaining coating will protect the exposed steel.
